As the fourth largest island in the world, Madagascar boasts a diverse terrain, ranging from lush rainforests and pristine beaches to towering mountains and arid deserts. It’s the unique wildlife however that steals the spotlight; the island is home to a staggering array of endemic species found nowhere else on Earth. From the charismatic lemurs, with their playful antics, to the colorful chameleons that inhabit the lush forests, every moment in Madagascar promises a wildlife encounter like no other.

Itinerary

  1. Day One, Sep 4 2027

    Antananarivo

    • Arrive in the capital city of Antananarivo and transfer to your hotel.

    • Depending on your arrival time, the rest of the day can be spent at leisure. In the evening, we will enjoy a welcome dinner together.

  2. Day Two, Sep 5 2027

    Antsirabe

    • After breakfast, we will start our journey to Antsirabe, the capital of the Vakinankaratr region. Antsirabe is known as the city of water and handicrafts, famous for its thermal baths and pousse-pousse (rickshaws).

    • Along the way, we can see the beautiful highland landscapes with rice fields, traditional redbrick houses, and locals going about their daily lives.

    • This afternoon, we will tour the local workshops to see artisans at work producing zebu horn carvings, embroidery, and miniature bicycles.

  3. Day Three, Sep 6 2027

    Ambositra

    • This morning, we will head to Ambositra, the capital of Malagasy woodcarving. Stroll through artisan markets and admire the finely crafted marquetry.

    • After lunch, we will drive on to Fianarantsoa, the capital of the Betsileo Tribe.

  4. Day Four, Sep 7 2027

    Fianarantsoa

    • In the morning, we will hike to the old town of Fianarantsoa, a great opportunity to spend an unforgettable moment shared with the Betsileo people. We will discover all aspects of Betsileo culture and have lunch with a local in their home.

    • After lunch, we will head to Ambalavao.

  5. Day Five, Sep 8 2027

    Ambalavao

    • After breakfast, we will visit the silk weaving workshops of Ambalavao and the Antemoro paper factory, where bark is turned into handmade paper decorated with pressed flowers.

    • Next, we will continue to the Anja Community Reserve, where you will encounter ring-tailed Lemurs up close.

    • In the afternoon, drive through wide-open savannas as we head on a road trip to Ranohira (The Malagasy Colorado), the gateway to Isalo National Park.

  6. Day Six, Sep 9 2027

    Isalo National Park

    • We will spend the day hiking in Isalo National Park, a dramatic landscape of canyons, cliffs, and natural pools. Swim in the crystal-clear Piscine Naturelle, framed by pandanus palms. Enjoy a barbecue picnic with some ring-tailed lemurs and dancing lemurs (Verreaux’s sifaka).

    • As we head back to the hotel, we will take a short stop to enjoy the Isalo window at sunset.

  7. Day Seven, Sep 10 2027

    Ranomafana

    • From Ranohira, we will drive to Ranomafana, a lush rainforest region located in the southeastern part of the Island and home to amazing wildlife.

  8. Day Eight, Sep 11 2027

    Ranomafana National Park 

    • After breakfast, we will explore Ranomafana National Park, a biodiversity hotspot with rare lemurs such as the golden bamboo lemur, greater bamboo lemur, and other species of Lemurs, birds, frogs and chameleons.

    • In the late evening, we will set out on a night walk to spot nocturnal wildlife such as the famous Mouse lemur and different chameleons.

  9. Day Nine, Sep 12 2027

    Antsirabe

    • Today, we will head back to Antsirabe, seeing the beautiful scenery of the highlands again.

    • We will take a lunch stop in Ambositra along the way.

  10. Day Ten, Sep 13 2027

    Andasibe

    • After breakfast, we hit the road again to head for the Eastern part of the Island with its winding roads and lush vegetation.

    • In the evening, we will arrive in Andasibe.

  11. Day Eleven, Sep 14 2027

    Andasibe National Park

    • In the morning, we will hike to Andasibe National Park (Analamazaotra). The haunting calls of the Indri Indri, the largest lemur, echo through the rainforest canopy. The park is also home to bamboo lemurs, diademed sifakas, chameleons, and a wide variety of birds and orchids.

    • At the end of the day, set out on a night walk to spot nocturnal wildlife such as the famous Mouse lemur and different chameleons.

  12. Day Twelve, Sep 15 2027

    Antananarivo

    • This morning, we will hike for 2 hours to try and spot the Indri- Indri and the diademed Sifaka before heading back to Antananarivo.

    • On arrival in Antananarivo, if time allows, we will take a short city tour. In the evening, enjoy a final farewell dinner celebrating the end of our journey.

     

  13. Day Thirteen, Sep 16 2027

    Tour Ends
